BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - The state of North Dakota reported 15 new deaths related to COVID-19 on Saturday, and 593 new confirmed cases of the virus.

Since the pandemic began, the state has seen a total of 336 deaths and 26,628 total cases.

The number of active cases rose to 4,169 while the number of hospitalizations rose by eight to 140 - both figures are new records that beat previous highs set just a day earlier.

The new deaths include nine women and six men, all in their 70s or older. All had underlying health conditions.

Hospital capacity has been a concern around the state. Sanford Health Bismarck President Michael LeBeau said Thursday that residents who are used to convenient access to health care will need to adapt to longer wait times, different methods of care and possible transfers to other facilities.
