ROMULUS, Mich. (AP) - An Ohio man was arraigned Sunday in the slaying of a 27-year-old suburban Detroit woman who was shot and bound with Christmas lights in 2017, according to Michigan State Police.

Timothy Eugene Moore, 34, of Toledo, Ohio, was arraigned on one count of homicide in 34th District Court in Romulus and was denied bond, a brief Twitter statement from state police said.

Moore and a second person were arrested last week in the killing of Egypt Covington, a musician, singer and account manager for a beer distributor. She was found dead in in her home in Van Buren Township.

Police hadn’t released the name of the second suspect. The state police statement didn’t include whether Moore entered a plea or, if he didn’t, when that might happen.

Covington’s body was found at her home in her living room, her hands bound at the wrists with the Christmas lights and shot behind in the head.

Her father told the Detroit Free Press during the week that word of arrests brought some consolation.

“At least there’s a beginning for closure for all of us,” Chuck Covington, 71, of Houston, Texas, said.

In 2017, Arbor Brewing created a beer, A Girl Named Egypt, to honor Covington.
