Man walking on Illinois interstate dies after truck hits him

BELLEVILLE, Ill. (AP) - A 62-year-old man died after being struck by a truck as he walked on an Illinois interstate on Friday, State Police said.

The Belleville News-Democrat reported that Larry Jones of Highland parked his car in the median of Interstate 70 in Bond County on Friday afternoon.

Authorities say the car had no obvious damage but became stuck in mud. They do not know yet why Jones pulled over on the median.

They say Jones left the car and a truck hit him on the interstate. No other information was immediately released.
