COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Law enforcement officials in South Carolina are trying to locate a 13-year-old girl who has been missing for several days.

Emily Smith was last seen about 11 p.m. Wednesday at home after going to bed, according to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office. Her family saw she was gone the next morning, according to a news release.

Officials described the girl as white with brown hair and hazel eyes, 5 feet, 2 inches (1.57 meters) tall and approximately 150 pounds (68 kilograms) .



The sheriff’s office said Monday that the girl is “a low functioning juvenile and could possibly be in danger.”

Authorities asked that anyone with information on the girl’s whereabouts contact the sheriff’s office at 803-648-6811 or a local law enforcement agency.
