JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Procrastinators are facing a deadline to file their 2019 Mississippi income tax returns.

Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the state extended its filing deadline from April 15 until July 15. That is this Wednesday.

That is the same new deadline that the IRS set for filing federal income tax returns.

The Mississippi Department of Revenue says people may request an extension to file returns by Oct. 15 - but that is just to fill out the forms. The state says any taxes owed are still supposed to be paid by Wednesday.
