Comedian Ricky Gervais warned the attendees off of political speeches at Sunday night’s Golden Globe awards, joking that his Hollywood figures are unprincipled and ignorant.

In his opening monologue, which also included jokes about everybody in the room was a friend of pedophile and procurer Jeffrey Epstein, Mr. Gervais exuded a devil-may-care persona in attacking the film and TV glitterati.

“If ISIS started a streaming network you’d call your agent, wouldn’t you? So if you do win an award tonight, don’t use it as a platform to make a political speech,” he said, after also noting the industry’s ties to corporate giants tied to abusive third-world labor practices.

“You’re in no position to lecture the public about anything. … Most of you spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg,” the Swedish schoolgirl-turned-activist, he said.

Ironically, the very first segment included one of the winners going off on politics.

Russell Crowe, who couldn’t attend the ceremony, sent a statement to be read by the presenters about global warming.

Mr. Crowe was absent from claiming his trophy for lead actor in a TV movie (“The Loudest Voice”) because his home and family in Australia are under threat from wildfires, which he directly blamed on climate change.
