Gunfire reported outside Rhode Island high school

CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (AP) - Police are investigating reports of gunfire near a Rhode Island high school on Wednesday.

The shots were reported near Central Falls High School at about 10:15 a.m.

The high school and nearby Calcutt Middle School were placed on lockdown.

Witnesses reported seeing three men running from the area, two in one direction and the third in another, police said in a statement.

There were no reports of injuries and no word on arrests.

Police do not think the schools or any students were targeted.

Central Falls High School had a scheduled 11:30 a.m. dismissal on Wednesday, and police remained outside the school as students left for the day.
