YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) - A man was sentenced to 14 years in federal prison after he was found in Washington state in possession of about 90 pounds (40 kilograms) of methamphetamine, a judge said.
Martel Chavez-Mendoza, 40, was sentenced Wednesday after pleading guilty last year to distributing more than a pound of the drug, Yakima Herald-Republic reported Thursday.
Prosecutors dropped multiple charges in exchange for the guilty plea including conspiring to distribute methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute, being a noncitizen in possession of a firearm and returning to the United States after deportation.
Chavez-Mendoza was arrested in September 2018 after selling meth to an undercover informant, authorities said.
A search of the house found more than $50,000 in cash, three rifles, 90 pounds (40 kilograms) of meth and two pounds (0.9 kilograms) of heroin in his car, authorities said.
Chavez-Mendoza is scheduled for deportation and is barred from returning to the U.S. in addition to his prison sentence.
