ROY, Utah (AP) - The body of a 60-year-old woman was found inside a home destroyed by a fire Sunday, firefighters said.
Fire crews extinguished the fire in Roy, about 30 miles (48 kilometers) north of Salt Lake City and then spent several hours shoring up the home before it was safe to enter and search for the homeowner, Roy Fire Capt. Matthew Heslop told the Deseret News.
Firefighters found Jamie Allen in a bedroom near the back of the house.
“May God bless the Allen family at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you,” the fire department said in a statement.
The state fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire. It could take some time before a cause is determined, Roy Deputy Fire Chief Leroy Gleichmann said.
