MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - The commissioner of the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation has resigned.
Vermont Public Radio reports that DEC Commissioner Emily Boedecker told her staff in an email Friday she was leaving her post, effective immediately.
Boedecker led the department, which oversees state environmental programs including waste water, solid waste and many permitting programs, for three years.
Boedecker did not give a reason for her departure.
A spokeswoman for Republican Gov. Phil Scott says Boedecker left to “pursue other opportunities.”
Agency of Natural Resources Secretary Julie Moore said she was “really grateful for (Boedecker’s) service.”
Moore said that Peter Walke, the ANR deputy secretary, will be named DEC commissioner on Monday.
