VALHALLA, N.Y. (AP) - An inmate at a county jail outside New York City has been arrested on a manslaughter charge stemming from a fatal assault on another inmate, authorities said Wednesday.

William Johnson, 20, is charged with second-degree manslaughter in the death of 18-year-old Bryce Neville, a fellow inmate at the Westchester County Jail in Valhalla.

Westchester County police said Johnson punched Neville in the head as the men walked through a common area at the jail on Jan. 30. Neville fell and hit his head on the floor. He later died at Westchester County Medical Center.

Johnson is expected to be arraigned Thursday in Mount Pleasant Town Court, the district attorney’s office said. It’s not clear if he has an attorney who can speak for him.
