CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - A Wyoming doctor who has been charged with illegally prescribing opioids and other controlled substances has reached a plea agreement with federal prosecutors, court records said.
David Ray Cesko of Rawlins is scheduled to enter a guilty plea during a federal court hearing in Cheyenne on Feb. 26, KTWO-AM reports. Court records did not indicate to what charges he would plead guilty.
Cesko faced a 32-count indictment alleging he dispensed medication from November 2014 to May 2017, often without a legitimate medical purpose or outside the usual course of professional practice. He is alleged to have improperly prescribed anti-anxiety drugs, stimulants and painkilling opioids.
Rawlins has faced disciplinary actions since 2005 over his prescribing actions.
In 2017, the Wyoming Board of Medicine suspended his license saying he “posed an imminent threat to the health, welfare and safety of the people of Wyoming.” Cesko voluntarily relinquished his license in August 2018.
