MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) - Officials have released the name of a man who died after his vehicle sank into Salmon Lake in western Montana.

Douglas K. Pewitt, 80, of Seeley Lake died Monday, said Missoula County Sheriff and Coroner T.J. McDermott.

Officials received a report of a car sinking into the north end of the lake at about 4:30 p.m. Monday. The lake sits on the west side of Montana Highway 83 and is south of the town of Seeley Lake.



A diver recovered his body at about 8 p.m. Monday.

Pewitt’s death has been ruled an accidental drowning, McDermott said Tuesday.
