WORCESTER (AP) - A Massachusetts man accused of drugging underage boys and filming himself sexually assaulting them over a period of 18 years was sentenced to state prison Monday.
Paul Menard, 55, pleaded guilty to 33 charges, including rape and child rape, and was sentenced to 15 to 20 years in prison, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early Jr.
The North Brookfield resident said he filmed himself sexually assaulting several young men, most of whom were unconscious after he put drugs in alcoholic drinks he provided.
In a release, the district attorney said the case involved at least four victims and the offenses occurred between 1998 and 2016. Investigators had found computer thumb drives that contained photos and videos of Menard posing with the unconscious boys who were nude as Menard performed sexual acts.
Assistant District Attorney Lambrini Pashou said most of the young victims have no memory of the assaults.
But Menard recorded and “memorialized” his crimes, she said Monday in Worcester Superior Court.
Menard’s lawyer, James Kaeding, asked the judge for a more lenient sentence since his client had been a victim of abuse and trauma himself.
The charges against Menard include 11 counts of rape and child rape, 11 counts of possessing child pornography, nine counts of posing a child in a state of nudity and two counts of indecent assault and battery of a person over 14.
He was also order to serve five years of probation upon his release and is required to register as a sex offender.
