CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Scott Cochran has been selected as superintendent of the West Virginia Schools for the Deaf and the Blind.
The state Board of Education chose Cochran at a meeting Friday in Charleston. The school in Romney serves more than 100 children.
“I am humbled and honored to be entrusted with this position,” Cochran said in a statement. “As a life-long educator, I have dedicated my life to the children of our state.
Cochran spent six years as superintendent of schools in Webster County. He previously served as a teacher, coach, special education director, assistant principal and principal.
“Education plays a critical role in our communities and our state, especially in the face of the pandemic,” he said. “I, like so many of my peers, consider it a privilege to serve in this capacity.”
