SEAFORD, Del. (AP) - A Delaware man accused of dragging a state police trooper with his car while evading a traffic stop last year has pleaded guilty to assault.
WBOC reports the Department of Justice said Friday that 30-year-old Brandon T. Showell pleaded guilty to second-degree assault, reckless endangering and resisting arrest.
In June 2018, Delaware State Police said a trooper pulled Showell over for running a stop sign. Showell is accused of then accelerating while the trooper’s arm was entangled in the moving car’s steering wheel.
Showell reportedly pushed the trooper from the car, tried to steal his stun gun and started to run before being caught.
Showell is scheduled for sentencing in October.
