PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A Rhode Island man has been sentenced to serve 16 years in prison after pleading no contest to sexual assault and child molestation charges involving two juvenile girls.

Attorney General Peter Neronha announced Tuesday that 36-year-old Victor Rodriguez, of Central Falls, entered his plea last week.

A judge also ordered Rodriguez to undergo sex offender counseling and register as a sex offender. Additionally, the court imposed no-contact orders between Rodriguez and his victims.

Prosecutors say between September 2016 and September 2017, Rodriguez forcibly engaged in sexual acts with two girls he knew. Authorities did not disclose their ages or their precise relationship to Rodriguez.
