BELTON, S.C. (AP) - A company with almost five decades of history is closing its plant in South Carolina’s Anderson County.
WYFF-TV reports Hydro Aluminum Sapa plant officials in Belton made the announcement Friday.
The Norwegian company supplies aluminum products to companies like BMW and Boeing.
The plant was closed Friday, but employees say between 120 and 150 people work at the Belton plant. They said the company had been in operation for 47 years.
The last day of operation would be Jan. 1, 2020, with limited operations expected to continue into the first quarter of 2020.
The company also announced the closure of its plant in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Company officials said in a statement the restructuring closures will enable them to continue to meet the needs of customers for years to come.
