WILLISTON, Vt. (AP) - Regulators say Vermont’s largest solid waste district didn’t seek approval for disposing of tons of crushed glass that should have been recycled.
The Chittenden Solid Waste District faces allegations from an environmental commission of violating Vermont’s Act 250, a land use and development law.
Chittenden Solid Waste District’s lawyer says the material was not dumped illegally; it was being used to stabilize a bank and control erosion.
Vermont Public Radio reports the state attorney general’s office is reviewing the allegations.
