Rex Ryan coaches will line up for Redskins job

Former New York Jets and Buffalo Bills coach Rex Ryan subtly threw his hat in the ring for the Washington Redskins’ vacant head coaching position.

Now a football analyst for ESPN, when Ryan was asked on “Get Up!” who would want to accept the job, he said, “Of course, everybody. I would take it.”

“Here’s the deal: People are gonna be lined up for this job,” Ryan continued. “They absolutely will.”

So far, nobody else is in line with Ryan. A report said Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley, annually brought up as a good NFL coaching candidate, is not interested in the Redskins.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin was asked about the vacancy and deflected the question.

“I’m the head coach of a 1-4 football team that’s going on the road to play a Hall of Fame quarterback with a third-string quarterback. Do you think I’m worried about anything other than that?” Tomlin said.

Ryan does have a connection to Washington, though. His twin brother, Rob Ryan, is working his first season as the team’s inside linebackers coach.

He has an all-time record of 61-66 across six season with New York and two with Buffalo.
