The Washington Nationals face elimination against a pitcher that was once part of their minor league system.

Rich Hill, the lefty starter for the Dodgers on Monday, pitched for the Triple-A Syracuse Chiefs in 2015 when that club was the top affiliate of the Nationals.

He was 2-2 with a 2.91 ERA in 25 games out of the bullpen that year with Syracuse, then was released June 24, 2015, by Washington.

Hill played in the Atlantic League later that year with Long Island and eventually signed with the Boston Red Sox.

Hill was with the Oakland A’s in August 2016 when he was traded to the Dodgers.

He was 3-2 with the Dodgers in 2016 and then the next year was 12-8 as part of the rotation.

The veteran lefty was 4-1, 2.45 in 13 starts this year for the Dodgers.

The Dodgers took a 2-1 lead in the series with a win Sunday over Washington.
