NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) - A Connecticut man charged with killing his wife then fleeing with one of their children has been convicted of murder.

The New Britain Herald reports that 39-year-old Patrick Miles was convicted by a jury Wednesday of fatally shooting Yasheeka Miles in their New Britain apartment in April 2017. The trial started Sept. 9.

Sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 4.

Yasheeka Miles was found with a gunshot wound to the head after police got a call from someone who said it sounded as though someone was being thrown around the apartment.

Patrick Miles fled with the couple’s 2-year-old daughter prompting an Amber Alert. He left the child with relatives in New York and was captured a week later in West Springfield, Massachusetts.
