HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - A Connecticut Supreme Court justice who leads a prosecutor oversight panel has called for a review of why the Hartford state’s attorney has failed to finish four investigations of police-involved shootings.
The Hartford Courant reports Justice Andrew McDonald said Wednesday that he has asked the chief state’s attorney’s office to investigate and recommend possible disciplinary actions to the Criminal Justice Commission, which McDonald leads.
The newspaper reported Hartford State’s Attorney Gail Hardy hasn’t completed reports on whether police were justified in killing four men between March 2008 and July 2012. Two shootings were Hartford, one in East Hartford and one in Manchester.
Hardy says she has determined the four shootings were justified and the reports are nearing completion. She has apologized and said her judicial district is busier than others.
