LOGAN, Utah (AP) - A Utah power company has replaced three ceramic insulators during an unplanned outage.
The Herald Journal reported Monday that Hyrum Light & Power believes the insulators were damaged by someone shooting at them.
Company authorities say the power outage was caused when a Rocky Mountain powerline went down Friday affecting the south of Cache Valley last week.
Authorities say about 3,000 customers were without power for about 5 hours in Hyrum, Wellsville and Mendon.
Authorities say the insulators cost about $250 each, not including labor fees.
Authorities say it takes workers about 3 hours to replace the insulators on the live 46,000-volt line.
Company authorities say any outage is costly for city residences and businesses, including planned maintenance outages.
