Deal to serve as distinguished professor at Mercer

MACON, Ga. (AP) - Former Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal has a new role. Professor.

News outlets report that Deal will serve as the Distinguished University Professor of Government at Mercer University.

Mercer University announced the appointment this week. The former two-term governor is a graduate of the private university.

Deal will begin the post on Jan. 1.

The state Board of Regents earlier this year also hired Deal to teach and hold lectures at the University of Georgia System.
