MARLBORO, Vt. (AP) - A former faculty member at Vermont’s Marlboro College says the plans to move the school’s academic programs to Emerson College in Boston were carried out “more or less” in secret.
The Brattleboro Reformer reports more than 50 people discussed the future of Marlboro’s campus at a weekend community meeting.
Earlier this month, the two schools announced that Marlboro would move its academic programs to Emerson after the current school year.
Former Marlboro literature and writing teacher T. Hunter Wilson says the process was designed “to scare people into accepting” the merger.
But Anthropology professor Nelli Sargsyan says faculty members participated in looking for the best possible solution.
It’s unclear what will happen to the Marlboro College property if a buyer isn’t found.
