The Minnesota Vikings released wide receiver Josh Doctson on Tuesday, marking the second time in months that the former Redskins’ first-rounder has been cut from an NFL team.
Doctson’s opportunity with the Vikings didn’t go as planned. The 26-year-old was placed on injured reserve Sept. 12 with a hamstring injury, causing him to miss the next nine games. He returned for the Vikings’ 27-23 win over the Denver Broncos in Week 11, but recorded just seven offensive snaps. He was held without a catch.
The Redskins released Doctson just prior to the start of the regular season after an unimpressive training camp.
Drafted 22nd overall in 2016, Doctson has struggled to stay healthy and has just 1,100 yards across four seasons.
Doctson will now head to waivers, where he is eligible to be claimed by another team.
