HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut child welfare authorities say an investigation into sexual abuse at a school district has been hindered by the district’s hesitation and poor communication.

The Hartford Courant obtained a letter written by Child Advocate Sarah Eagan on Nov. 13, stating that her office would “take any and all legal action as permitted by state law” to get New London Public Schools to compile with several information requests.

The investigation follows the arrest of a former school employee who was charged with sexually assaulting two middle school girls in his office and in a school storage closet.

Two other former employees were arrested shortly after.

Superintendent Cynthia Ritchie says in a statement to the paper that district officials have prepared documents in response to the request and “are ready to share.”
