GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (AP) - A 25-year-old Grand Island man has been sentenced to decades in prison for the January 2018 shooting death of another man.
Television station NTV reports that Herbey Portillo was sentenced Friday to at least 42 years and no more than 48 years. He pleaded no contest in March to second-degree murder in the death of 19-year-old Trevor Sok.
Police arrested Portillo after finding him hiding in a Grand Island garage that day after Sok’s death. Police found Sok injured around 3:45 a.m. New Year’s Day of 2018 at a Grand Island home where he had attended a party. Sok later died at a hospital.
