The Washington Redskins signed veteran linebacker Jon Bostic after Reuben Foster suffered a season-ending torn ACL, the team announced Wednesday.

In a corresponding move, Washington placed Foster on injured reserve.

Bostic, a 6-foot-1, 243-pound linebacker, spent last season with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He started 14 games, finishing with 73 tackles and 2 1/2 sacks. Washington will be Bostic’s sixth team since he was drafted in the second round in 2013.

He has spent time with the Chicago Bears, New England Patriots, Detroit Lions, Indianapolis Colts and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Redskins needed depth at the position once Foster went down in practice earlier this week. On Monday, Foster was carted off three plays into the team’s OTA session. The 25-year-old stepped on guard Tyler Catalina’s foot and fell awkwardly. Foster was later diagnosed with a torn ACL.
