CLINTON, Miss. (AP) - A graduating senior will address other graduates at Mississippi College’s commencement.

The school says former student government President Anthony Jackson will speak to the school’s three largest commencement ceremonies Friday and Saturday. The school expects to present more than 850 undergraduate, graduate and legal degrees. Ceremonies are moving inside because of rain.

The 22-year-old Jackson was the first African American ever elected to lead the student government at the Baptist-affiliated Clinton school. The former football player is running for state representative and plans to attend law school in the fall.

Mississippi College President Blake Thompson says he chose Jackson because he was impressed by Jackson’s energy, effectiveness and Christian faith.

U.S. District Judge Carlton Reeves will address law school graduates Friday, while Dean Kimberly Sharp will address nursing graduates.
