GREELEY, Colo. (AP) - A Colorado district attorney has determined that a police officer was justified in a February fatal shooting.

The Greeley Tribune reports that Weld County District Attorney Michael Rourke issued a report Monday on the Feb. 6 shooting death of 20-year-old Seth Keo Mallard near LaSalle.

Rourke’s report says the shooting was justified because Mallard was aiming and threatening an officer with a shotgun during a call about a suspicious vehicle in the town about 50 miles (80 kilometers) north of Denver.

The newspaper reports that the 19th Judicial Critical Incident Response team conducted the investigation into the shooting by one of its officers, who was placed on paid administrative leave during the inquiry.
