PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Higher demand and decreasing oil stocks have helped drive up the average cost of a gallon of gas in Rhode Island 6 cents.

AAA Northeast says Monday that its weekly survey found self-serve, regular selling for an average of $2.46 per gallon.

Rhode Island’s price is 8 cents lower than the national average for regular, and 7 cents lower than the Ocean State price a year ago.

AAA found a range in prices of 39 cents, from a low of $2.30 to a high of $2.69.
