President Trump apparently wasn’t the first person to lock in on former Rep. Beto O’Rourke’s mannerisms on the 2020 campaign stump.
Mr. O’Rourke told CBS News that he has been advised to cool it with all the body movement in the past, but suggested people will see more of it in his quest for the Democratic presidential nomination.
“I am pretty animated,” Mr. O’Rourke said. “I remember when we were campaigning in Texas, someone pulled me aside and said, ’I just want to give you some free advice, you move around too much when you talk.’”
“I am who I am, and I really do think that we all want to get past the pettiness, the personal attacks,” he said. “We’ve got some real big challenges in front of us.”
Mr. Trump told reporters at the White House Thursday that he was left wondering whether the Texas Democrat is “crazy” after watching all his “hand movement” during one of his first campaign stops in Iowa.
I’ve never seen so much hand movement,” Mr. Trump told reporters. “I said, ’Is he crazy or is that just the way he acts?’ “
“I’ve never seen anything quite like it,” he said. “Study it, I’m sure you will agree.”
