OXFORD, Miss. (AP) - City leaders have approved a plan for the University of Mississippi to close a campus road for construction this summer, but only if Ole Miss reopens two other roads.

The Oxford Eagle reports Oxford aldermen agreed with the Ole Miss plan to close Gertrude Ford Boulevard, which cuts through the university’s campus.

Ole Miss is building a retaining wall along the road, which travels through an earthen cut.

Aldermen approved closing the road during July, adjusting an Ole Miss plan that would have continued the closure into August, after school opens.

Alderman required Ole Miss to reopen part of Chucky Mullins Drive south of Mississippi 6, closed since April 2018. The city is also forcing Ole Miss to reopen All American Drive near Vaught-Hemingway Stadium during the Gertrude Ford project.
