TUPELO, Miss. (AP) - A northeast Mississippi tire maker plans a new $3.4 million warehouse.

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. has submitted plans for an additional 28,400-square-foot (2,600-sq. meter) warehouse.

The green tire storage addition, as it’s called, will take up some of the employee parking lot on the northeast corner of the property.

Cooper Tire spokeswoman Ann Roman says the company is expanding in Tupelo and adding to its 1,400 workers.

The company, based in Findlay, Ohio, opened its Tupelo plant in 1984. Since then, the facility has produced more than 375 million tires.
