CHILICOTHE, Mo. (AP) - A Missouri man who inhaled compressed air to get high before causing a crash that killed a woman and injured his 5-year-old daughter has been sentenced to 35 years in prison.
The St. Joseph News-Press reports that 25-year-old Shawn Yuille was sentenced Tuesday for second-degree murder and child endangerment.
The Livingston County prosecutor says Yuille was driving in downtown Chillicothe, in November 2017 with his daughter in the vehicle, when he became unconscious while huffing. Yuille’s pickup truck traveled through the downtown streets with an open throttle before crashing into a sport utility vehicle.
The SUV’s driver, 39-year-old Danette Rardon, died at the scene. She was the senior vice president of wealth management for Citizens Bank and Trust. Yuille’s daughter was flown to Children’s Mercy Hospital.
