WASHINGTON (AP) - The cousin of a D.C. council member is listed as chief executive of a business that would receive $3 million under a controversial no-bid sports gambling contract.
D.C. officials awarded Intralot the sole-source contract to manage the online sports betting program.
The Washington Post reports Intralot submitted a plan to city officials listing Keith McDuffie as CEO of Potomac Supply Co., a subcontractor who’ll supply commercial paper product. Keith McDuffie is Councilmember Kenyan R. McDuffie’s cousin, who cast a yes-vote for the contract.
Keith McDuffie says he has no involvement with Potomac.
Potomac’s owner Okera Stewart says Keith McDuffie is a friend and Intralot mistakenly identified him as the CEO because of an email he sent them on Stewart’s behalf.
Intralot Executive Byron Boothe didn’t respond to comment requests from the newspaper.
