SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - Authorities in Northern California say deputies have arrested man after his roommate was found dead on a Sacramento street.

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office says 21-year-old Grant Sherman was arrested and booked into jail Saturday.

The office said in a Monday news release that Sherman was arrested after homicide detectives determined his roommate, 22-year-old Austin Sweet, died of injuries suffered during an altercation between the two.

The Sacramento Bee reports deputies found an unresponsive Sweet on a street in the North Highlands neighborhood. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sherman’s booking photo shows him with a black eye, and inmate booking logs indicate he is being held facing a charge of voluntary manslaughter. His bail is set at $300,000.
