ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - A New York man has admitted killing a beloved youth football league coach outside an Albany nightclub.
The Times Union says Shaquille Owens pleaded guilty on Monday to second-degree murder in the Sept. 29 shooting of Joseph Davis.
Davis, who had volunteered as a bouncer for a dance party, was shot after a dispute. He died two days later.
Davis was the head coach of the Albany Pop Warner Falcon football teams.
He was the second Pop Warner coach to lose his life to gun violence within a three-month span.
In July, Elijah Cancer was shot and killed while trying to break up a fight at an Albany party.
Owens faces 20 years to life when he’s sentenced on March 1.
