CASA GRANDE, Ariz. (AP) - The Arizona Department of Public Safety says a pedestrian was fatally injured Friday night when struck by a DPS vehicle as he walked in a traffic lane of State Route 387 in Casa Grande.

DPS spokesman Quentin Mehr identified the man killed as 39-year-old Jason E. Rangel of Casa Grande.

Mehr says it’s not known why Rangel was walking in a traffic lane and the DPS investigation is ongoing.

The name of the DPS sergeant who was driving the vehicle wasn’t released.
