HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Police in Alabama say a man has been killed as he prepared to unload sod from a tractor-trailer.
Police tell news outlets that 55-year-old David H. Gentry was hit by a vehicle early Thursday morning in front of a Huntsville construction site.
Lt. Michael Johnson says Gentry parked his tractor-trailer on a road in front of the construction site. Police say a woman traveling in a vehicle struck Gentry and the back of his trailer.
A Huntsville police statement says the unnamed woman advised that she looked down, causing her to drift in to the lane where Gentry was standing. Police say the 31-year-old woman was uninjured.
Police are investigating the crash. Criminal charges haven’t been announced.
