PITTSBURGH (AP) - Frigid temperatures have prompted the closing of schools and courts in the Pittsburgh area and other closures elsewhere in Pennsylvania.

The Pittsburgh Public Schools announced closure of schools Wednesday due to “predictions of dangerously cold temperatures.”

The Allegheny County courts and Pittsburgh municipal court will also be closed, although arraignment court will remain open. City officials announced the opening of warming centers and urged residents to be careful if they use space heaters.
