SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Crews in South Burlington, Vermont, are working to clear out the former Kmart Plaza to prepare for a new supermarket.

Interior demolition is underway at the former Kmart, which closed two years ago. The Burlington Free Press reports Hannaford supermarket spokeswoman Ericka Dodge says crews are upgrading sewer lines and storm water systems.

Hannaford currently operates store on an adjacent parcel, tucked next to a Lowe’s store. The move, onto property already owned by Hannaford and into an existing building, has undergone a relatively seamless city review process.
