Bevo was taking the Sugar Bowl more seriously than you’d expect a cow to do.

Before Tuesday night’s game between the Texas Longhorns and the Georgia Bulldogs, journalists, photographers and game officials were milling about the field in New Orleans with “Uga,” the Georgia canine mascot, and taking photos.

But then Bevo, the Longhorns’ longhorn decided he was having a beef with all the press attention being given to the bulldog and charged the scene.

Bevo bared his horns, as the people — and a certain rival canine — backed away with a mixture of fear and laughter.

Texas fans might hope that this inversion of the food chain — dogs eat cows, not vice versa — would be a foreshadowing of the evening’s game. And while Las Vegas had the homo sapiens Bulldogs favored by 12 points, the game certainly mimicked the pre-game bull rushing, with Texas winning 28-21.
