DANIELSON, Conn. (AP) - A 29-year-old man has been arraigned on a murder charge in connection with the strangulation of his girlfriend in Connecticut.

The Norwich Bulletin reports that Julio Cruz-Cabrera was arraigned Wednesday after he was extradited from New York.

Police say Cruz-Cabrera killed Angela Martinez-Acevedo on Oct. 2 at their home in Willimantic and fled.

Police records show the woman’s body was found after her two children came home from school and could not get into the apartment.

A neighbor helped unlock the door, and police say Martinez-Acevedo’s daughter discovered the body.

Authorities say the victim was found with an electrical cord wrapped around her neck.

Cruz-Cabrera is being held on $3 million bail.

No defense attorney was listed in state court records
