LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Humana Inc. (HUM) on Wednesday reported fourth-quarter profit of $355 million.
The Louisville, Kentucky-based company said it had net income of $2.58 per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were $2.65 per share.
The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 10 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $2.53 per share.
The health insurer posted revenue of $14.17 billion in the period, which also beat Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $13.92 billion.
Humana expects full-year earnings in the range of $17 to $17.50 per share, with revenue in the range of $63.1 billion to $63.7 billion.
Humana shares have increased nearly 6 percent since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor’s 500 index has climbed 9 percent. The stock has risen 14 percent in the last 12 months.
