CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - The Wyoming Supreme Court has denied the appeal of a former gynecologist who was sentenced to 20 to 30 years in prison for sexually assaulting patients during medical exams.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports Paul Harnetty argued the state mischarged him, the trial judge should have allowed an additional jury instruction and the judge should have stayed the conviction. The state’s high court denied the appeal Wednesday.

Six female patients testified that Harnetty touched them during physical examinations in ways that were unusual and made them feel uncomfortable. They also said his exams were different from those they had experienced by other doctors.

Harnetty was convicted of two counts of second-degree sexual assault.
