PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - The Maine Department of Transportation has some valentines for motorists.

Illuminated informational signs along interstate highways on Thursday have messages including, “SPREAD LOVE, NOT ROAD RAGE” and “DON’T RUSH LOVE, TAKE IT SLOW.”

Another message reads, “I THINK WE CLICK, LOVE, YOUR SEATBELT.”

The MDOT’s effort to bring humor to the highways began last summer. The messages flashing Thursday honor Valentine’s Day, which is on Feb. 14.
