HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - An 18-year-old man died in an early morning crash on Interstate 84 in Hartford, Connecticut State Police said Saturday.

A car driven by Christian Cruz, 18, of New Britain was heading west at about 1 a.m. when it lost control, veered to its left and struck the center median jersey barrier.

Cruz was unresponsive at the scene and was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Hartford where he was pronounced dead, police said. He was not wearing a seat belt according to the police report.



A 16-year-old New Britain boy who was a front seat passenger in the car was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries. He used a seat belt.

No other vehicles were involved.

The crash remains under investigation and police are asking witnesses to contact investigators.
